I shoot traditional archery.  the club in which I do most of my shooting, the SCA (see definition below) mandates traditional archery bows only with wooden shafted arrows and feather fletches.  Nocks may be self or plastic.  Points must be something that does not destroy the target, i.e. field or bullet points.  These articles are directed towards this type of archery.

This is a collection of articles I have written over time about target archery.  I present them here to share what I have learned about archery, shooting and some of the gear.  These are my personal opinions based on my personal experience and what I have learned either through reading, talking with other experienced archers or real life experience.  If you feel any of this is worth sharing, please do.  I only ask that if you publish is, i.e. on a list, FaceBook, you mention where you got it.  Always nice to reference the source.  Otherwise, use freely and enjoy.

You will see a few terms used in these articles that you may not be familiar with.  I've defined them below.

SCA - Society For Creative Anachronism.  This is a world wide club of Medieval re-enacting.

Royal Round - Within the SCA target archers can compare their skills with any other archer anywhere in the world through a Royal Round.  It is 6 shafts, untimed at 20, 30, and 40 yards and as many shafts as you can get off in 30 seconds at 20 yards.  The targets is the standard FITA 5 color ring target.  Scoring is from gold (inner color) out 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
