Making A Knife Sheath

Including Some Fancy Lacing

Step 12

My objective on this project is to lace all the way around the sheath.  After the front and back pieces are glued together I punch all around the sheath using my lace punch.

I'm going to do a single loop edge lace here.  I begin by cutting a piece of lace at least 6 times longer than the edge I will be covering.  Thread the lace onto the lacing needle which you can see here.  Then start the needle through the first hole.  Whether you go front to back or back to front doesn't really matter.  This form of lacing does tend to have a sense of direction which you will see in later images.  You may want to take that into consideration when deciding where to start and which way you will be lacing.  I generally perfer lacing left to right just because.........  No good reason.
